JPJ take stern action against the clone car owner


Besut - The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will take stern action against the owner of a luxury car that cloned even if they give reasons for becoming a victim of fraud sellers of vehicles.

Terengganu JPJ director Abdul Rahman Really Anyie said this was because only a handful of victims while remaining aware of the car even if it is a clone, but still buy it because it is sold at a cheaper price than the original car.


"Most owners know their vehicles clone will face action by the authorities but because of the desire causes them to ignore the legal implications that may be encountered.


"Through enforcementactions last year until today, Terengganu JPJ have seized more than 250 counterfeit or cloned car in the whole country," he said.


He was speaking to reporters here after the launch of the enhanced JPJ now Chairman of the Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Plantation Industries and Commodities Hulu Besut state assemblyman cum, Nawi Mohamad in Kampung Keruak, here Saturday.


He said most of the clones vehicles seized is a vehicle brought into the country from neighboring countries.

"It is offered at a price varies according to the type of vehicle around RM12,000 (per unit) compared to the actual market price of about RM100,000," he said.


Among the luxury vehicle of choice for buyers is the Toyota Wish, Honda, Subaru, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.


"JPJ has the expertise to detect vehicles as syndicates selling clones of clones vehicle will typically use the same registration number as a valid vehicle type used in the country in addition to using the road tax is not legitimate," he said.

"When the information in different JPJ system with information on the vehicle, we will seize the vehicle under Section 64 (1) and subsequently issued a summons under section 108 (3) (e) and 108 (3) (f) of the Act Road Transport in 1987" he said.


He advised the people not to be easily fooled by car dealers clones and should refer to the authorities for security measures.
